Job Title: Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Associate Dean Clinical Affairs

The Chief Medical Officer is a key member of the Core Management Team of the Pakistan Health Services of Aga Khan University Hospital Pakistan, engaged in defining the overall strategy and direction of the organization. As an Associate Dean Clinical Affairs he is a key member of the leadership team of the Medical College.
The position provides medical oversight, expertise and leadership to ensure the delivery of affordable and high quality healthcare services. Responsibilities also include the strategy, development and implementation of innovative clinical programs that require collaboration with strategic partners within or outside the University and the Health Services.

Responsibilities
You will lead the overall clinical vision for the organization and provides clinical direction to departments, sections and Service Lines with a special responsibility for:
Credentialing and privileging of faculty through applying the Credentialing and Privileging Policies and chairing the Credentialing Committee.
Ensuring that every faculty has a plan to attain the required privileges and is well executed in practice.
Creating a strong academic and service milieu in all the Service Lines of the Hospital, the Outreach Services and the Secondary Hospitals.
Developing, implementing and monitor compliance with the institutions’ policies, bylaws and regulations.
Evaluating and adjusting policies according to international standards and best practices.
Handling patient complaints, critical incidents and sentinel events as per the institutions’ policies.
Quality of care, patient safety and infection control. Quality of bedside teaching, 24/7 coverage of medical care through coordination with and guidance to under-graduate and post-graduate programs.
Medical records review, accreditations and certifications, especially Joint Commission International Accreditation and other accrediting bodies.
Looking after risk management and medico-legal issues. Including measurement and monitoring of clinical outcomes.
Foster undergraduate medical education and coordinate from a service perspective with the Associate Dean Medical Education, the Curriculum Committee and other committees of the Medical College related to undergraduate education.
Promote postgraduate education, including internship-, residency- and fellowship programs and coordinate from a service perspective with the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Medical Education.

Requirements
Medical degree preferably with MBBS from a recognized institution.
A valid, medical license (PMDC).
Minimum 10 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting including 5 years in a leadership role.
Exposure and experience of clinical risk management and safety protocols would be an added advantage.
Strategic and innovative thinker with proven ability to communicate a vision and drive results.
A demonstrable track record in forging physician/management relations.
Meets productivity standards and performs duties as workload necessitates.
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude with all work-related contacts.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus given a high premium.
Noticeable skills in engaging physicians and finding synergies; an interactive style which is pleasant.
High tolerance for complex, ambiguous, and ever-shifting environments.
