Your Role – Electrical Equipment Design Specialist
Electrical Equipment Design Specialist in BU Transmission Solution will work with a project execution team which is responsible for execution and completion of High Voltage Grid Stations projects in line with time, cost and quality requirements.
Electrical Equipment Design Specialist will:
Collaborate closely with Manufacturers, design engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to provide timely feedback, clarify design requirements, and address design-related issues.
Establish and implement standardized design review processes for electrical equipment used in grid stations.
Develop checklists, guidelines, and templates to facilitate consistent and thorough evaluations of equipment designs.
Evaluate electrical equipment designs to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and project specifications.
Review design documentation for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established guidelines.
Possess in-depth knowledge of grid station equipment and systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection relays, control panels, and associated components.
Conduct detailed reviews of electrical equipment designs, specifications, drawings, and calculations to verify their technical soundness, functionality, and performance. Identify and address design flaws, inefficiencies, and non-compliances
Perform risk assessments on equipment designs to identify potential hazards, failure points, and reliability concerns. Recommend design modifications or improvements to mitigate risks and enhance equipment performance
Thoroughly examine design documentation, including technical specifications, bills of quantities (BOQ), assembly instructions, and test reports. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of information across different documentation elements
Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and quality enhancement in equipment design reviews. Contribute to the development of design review guidelines, templates, and training materials to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the review process
Provide technical assistance and guidance to design teams during the design review process. Offer expertise in resolving technical challenges, interpreting standards, and finding innovative solutions to design issues
Ensure compliance with Quality and EHS standards for all projects.
Perform according to the Business Conduct Guidelines/ Siemens’ internal procedures and support in establishing a culture of trust and integrity
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a reputable university
10-15 years of experience in electrical equipment design, design review, or a similar role in the electrical power industry, with a focus on grid stations.
Familiarity with grid station design principles, electrical protection schemes, and control systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple design review projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with evolving industry standards and technological advancements.
Fluency (Verbal and Written) in English
