Job Title: Instructor, Professional Development Centre, Karachi (PDC,K)
Entity: Institute for Educational Development

Aga Khan University – Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), established in July 1993, provides teachers and school leaders the skills and opportunities they need to educate future leaders through human resource development, institutional capacity building, policy analysis and research. To support this work, the Institute conducts a broad array of academic programmes for in-service teachers, teacher educators and education managers/leaders from both the public and private sectors. These programmes include MPhil and PhD in education, Masters of Education, Master of Teaching; Master in Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation, as well as Advanced Diplomas in Curriculum Areas, Educational Leadership and Management, Certificate Programmes, and Continuing Professional Education Courses for teachers, teacher educators, principals, and education managers and leaders.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
teaching in at least five of PDC,K’s Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programmes andin AKU-IED’s Graduate Programmes
preparing strategic development plan, annual goals, strategies and budget for PDC,K
developing annual work plan for PDC,K based on goals, strategies and activities including certificate and short/executive courses
providing administrative support to the faculty and professional development teachers in smooth implementation and delivery of CPE courses
identifying business opportunities for offering CPE/certificate programmes and market them to the targeted schools, teachers and other clientele
strengthening relationship with the existing partner schools and form new partnerships
ensuring quality of certificate and CPE courses offered at PDC, K
developing and implementing research agenda, primarily of the kind in which the PDC, K might explore its own practice and use findings for improvement of its activities.

Requirements
You should have:
an MPhil degree, preferably in Education
at least four years’ of relevant experience with specialized teaching experience in any of the below mentioned areas:
1. Social Studies
2. Early Childhood Education
knowledge of the latest developments and practices in the field of teacher education and outreach activities
strong understanding of financial management, academic planning and administration
strong interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
experience and expertise in report and proposal writing
proficiency in MS Office
ability to work collaboratively, consultatively and constructively with colleagues in both collegial and supervisory capacities
willingness to travel domestically for official assignments.
