Responsibilities
You will be responsible to assist in the overall management of AKU’s Library and learning resources technology and systems. Specific responsibilities will include:
assist Systems Librarian in management of Integrated Library System (ILS) and work on all library-specific software and tools associated with ILS
perform preliminary diagnosis of system problems, consult with Systems Librarian regarding their solution
participate in the development and management of the library web pages and social media spaces
assist in data management i.e extract, operate, import and export in the ILS
liaison with IT department for ILS and other library-specific software and hardware related issues
contribute in Online Public Access Catalogue enhancement and to other services as assigned by the University Librarian’s Office.

Requirements
You should have:
Master of Library and Information Science with Bachelor of Computer Science or Master of Computer Science with Bachelor of Library and Information Science from an accredited institution. A relevant, equivalent combination of training and experience will also be considered
Minimum five years working experience of library and information management system preferably in a higher education or research environment
Demonstrate knowledge of international library systems and standards (MARC21, AACR2, RDS. Dublin Core and other metadata formats)
Expertise in Microsoft applications, experience of handing RDBMS and structured query language
Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems with strong detail orientation
Experience of managing all modules of an integrated library system
Knowledge of state-of-the-art web based information management technologies and familiarity with project planning and management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken
A learning and positive attitude with ability to work with diverse library teams
Ability to take initiatives and suggest out of the box solutions.
