Service Line Chief, Oncology (Cancer Care) Service Line – Aga Khan University Hospital

Job Description
The Oncology (Cancer Care) Service Line at the Aga Khan University Hospital consists of a specialised team of certified, highly trained and experienced oncologists, radiation oncologists, haematologists, surgeons, nurses and technicians who treat specific adult and child cancers and haematological disorders.
The Service Line provides comprehensive cancer care services under one roof. There are, among many other services, a bone marrow transplant unit, a top of the line radiation oncology center with high tech LINACs , brachytherapy, total body irradiation and total Skin Electron Beam Therapy, a PET-CT with dedicated cyclotron, a day care center and an inpatient facility as well. Outpatient facilities include clinics of Medical Oncology, Haematology, Paediatric Oncology and Radiation Oncology. Palliative care is part of the scope of the Service Line in close cooperation with the Home Health Service of AKUH.
Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Service Line Chief, Oncology (Cancer Care) Service Line. Applications are invited only from potentially qualified internal candidates.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to CEO, you will be accountable for an overall clinical leadership of the Service Line, which includes ensuring delivery of effective, efficient, timely, high quality services in line with accreditation and regulatory requirements, support in developing the strategic plans and implementing service line goals & plans to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished. You will provide leadership for the implementation of changes required to operate effectively in an agile environment and will be accountable for the delivery of quality of services.
You will work in a complex environment of delivering services, research and teaching. Besides, you are expected to be aware of the responsibilities of working in the context of the governance policies of the Institution.

Requirements:
You should have:
an MBBS / MD degree or equivalent with suitable post-graduate qualifications with extensive leadership, managerial and clinical experience in a teaching hospital
at least 5 to 7 years of experience as Clinician with demonstrated leadership success in a medical practice setting would be preferred
ability to identify and manage critical issues and priorities
strong analytical and critical reasoning skills
high level of managerial competency for establishing and applying robust performance management systems and accountability frameworks
excellent leadership and influencing skills and demonstrable professional credibility
strong commercial and business insight, understanding the impact of operational efficiencies on overall patient care and performance targets
evidence of setting ambitious attainable targets and of leading and implementing innovative solutions, and complex change and modernization programmes designed to improve quality and services within financial constraints
an experience of working and contributing at a senior level with a proven track record of producing high quality results in the management and leadership of operations.
