Senior Coordinator (Data Management Unit), Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health – Aga Khan University – Karachi

Job Description
The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health aims to support the introduction, scale-up and further piloting of high quality and high impact interventions to improve Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) in Pakistan by harnessing the potential of both public and private sectors, coupled with introduction of women and girls empowerment intervention.
The Data Management Unit is responsible for providing data management and computing support to the wide range of community and clinical research projects throughout the department. The unit has longstanding experience in data management of various research projects. The core areas of activity include designing and archiving Case Report Files, data entry and management programming, data analysis, GIS mapping, IT and computing support.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the supervision of overall quality control and assurance of data for all field sites and will be the contact person for all data-related issues. Specific responsibilities include to:
recommend modifications and reconfigure databases to ensure optimal storage of data and minimize data entry complexities
prepare presentations and conduct training sessions for data entry and data capturing
write queries and codes using Visual FoxPro, VB.net, SPSS, SQL, Excel or other similar programme to generate quality control checks
visit field sites to assess the adherence to data management standards and quality assurance of data
conduct data audits, analyze findings, compile results and summarize audit findings
participate in project meetings and propose recommendations for procedure modifications and development related to data management, quality control and assurance
prepare and disseminate periodical reports for progress of assigned projects and identify and remove bottlenecks to ensure smooth data entry
respond to data related inquiries received from project personnel regarding relevant project issues and procedures
supervise data entry of collected forms from various sources such as paper documents, electronic data entry systems and handheld devices
organize discussions and meetings with project implementation and field staff for any clarifications and queries related to data management.

You should have:
a Masters degree in Computer Sciences, Statistics or equivalent with some additional professional certifications in database management
at least three years of related work experience, preferably with a reputable research or database management organization
excellent interpersonal, particularly communication and supervisory skills
strong database management and computer skills, and ability to use statistical software like SPSS, STATA etc.
proficient in the use of SQL Query Language, Visual Studio and JAVA
excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
willingness to travel frequently to field sites outside Karachi.
