Job Description
Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is a preeminent public health institution in the country. The vision of the Chancellor set the direction for the University to take a lead in community development and the creation of an innovative curriculum that emphasizes a balance between patient care and population health. Over the past several decades, CHS has played a major role in leading the development of national level primary health care, public health practice, health systems through evidence-based approach. CHS has established successful models in urban and rural settings in Pakistan emphasizing empowerment – building on the strengths of communities. As part of an international university, CHS collaborates in a global network of outstanding research and teaching institutions including AKU affiliates in East Africa and Central Asia.
CHS has five major sections Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental-Occupational Health & Injuries, and Non Communicable Diseases & Mental Health.

Responsibilities:
Being a member of the Health Policy & Management Section, you will:
facilitate the development and conduct of educational and training programmes at the appropriate level for undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate students in the area of health economics and health care financing. These will include basic courses in health economics and financing, and cost and cost-effectiveness analysis.
assist in developing and offering, as part of the continuing education programme, tailored educational programme in health economics and financing targeted at mid and senior managers in health and financing sectors
assist in the establishment of a research programme in the area of health economics and financing at the Aga Khan University that includes costing and unit cost analysis and economics appraisal of public health interventions, and expenditure analysis in low and limited resource setting
assist in conducting health expenditure surveys as well as a undertake economic analysis and modeling as part of various research projects
facilitate in developing collaboration with research scientist and key stakeholders, and promote AKU as a center with high level expertise in health economics and financing

Requirements:
You should have:
a Masters degree in Economics or related field from an HEC recognized reputable university
at least two years of research or management experience in Public Health with a focus on economics and financing of the health sector
ability to provide conceptual and technical input to a diverse range of research studies in the department and the institution
track record of having obtained research grants or publications will be preferred
good teaching skills and knowledge of new teaching methodologies and practices
good academic writing skills
good interpersonal skills and commitment to learning, growth, and self-development.
